Wear them on your head. Everywhere you go.

This isn't a printed beanie. There is no transfer paper. No iron-on patch. No screen print that will crack and peel after a winter of washes.

Your pet's face is hand needle-felted directly into the wool of the beanie itself, fiber-by-fiber, by an artisan in our studio. The portrait is the beanie. It cannot peel because there is nothing to peel — the wool of the felted face and the wool of the hat are now the same fabric.

Wear it for ten winters. It will look the same.

Why merino wool

The base beanie is 100% Australian merino wool — the softest grade of wool produced anywhere in the world. Merino fibers are roughly half the diameter of regular sheep wool, which means the beanie sits on your head without itching, breathes in spring, and stays warm in winter rain.

It also takes needle-felting beautifully. The artisan can layer dozens of color shades into a portrait without the underlying knit losing shape.

How it is made

  1. Day 1-2 — Photo review + digital proof. Our artisan creates a hand-drawn rendering showing the proposed portrait position, size, and color palette. You approve.
  2. Days 3-18 — Hand needle-felting. Working from the inside of the beanie, the artisan layers fiber after fiber to build your pet's face. Roughly 4,000 needle strokes per piece. Eyes, whiskers, and fur direction are all matched to your photo.
  3. Days 19-21 — Setting and finishing. The portrait is steam-set to lock the fibers, then gently brushed for natural fur texture.
  4. Day 22 — Quality check + ship. Each beanie is photographed, gift-boxed, and shipped free worldwide.

Care instructions

  • Hand wash only with cool water and lanolin-based wool wash
  • Lay flat to dry — never wring, never tumble dry
  • Do not iron the felted portrait
  • Store flat or loosely folded — never on a hook (will stretch the band)

Frequently asked

How long until my beanie arrives?
3-4 weeks of artisan work after proof approval, plus 5-10 days free shipping. Total: roughly 4-5 weeks.

Will the portrait peel or fade?
No — there is nothing to peel. The portrait is felted directly into the wool fibers of the beanie. With proper care (hand wash only), it will look identical in 10+ years.

Does the beanie fit most head sizes?
Yes. The merino wool stretches gently to fit head sizes 21" to 24" (53cm-61cm). For larger heads, choose the Slouchy fit.

Can you do two pets on one beanie?
Yes — but the portraits will be smaller. Email us before ordering with both photos.

Can I machine wash my beanie?
We strongly recommend hand wash only. Machine washing will felt the entire hat and shrink it.

Is this suitable for kids?
Yes. Merino wool does not itch, is hypoallergenic, and the felted portrait has no plastic or metal components.

How is this different from an embroidered beanie?
Embroidered beanies use machine-stitched thread on top of the fabric, which can pull, snag, or unravel. Our needle-felted portraits are part of the wool itself — there is no thread, no glue, no separate piece to fail.

— OUR STORY —

Made by hand. Made to outlive us.

Heirloom Paw was born the day I lost Momo, my first cat. I had hundreds of photos — but nothing I could hold. Nothing my hands could touch on the nights I missed her most.

So I taught myself the slow crafts — needle felting, leather, hand-painting on shell. Six months later I held the first piece: her face, made by hand. Something with weight. Something my children, one day, will inherit.

Today, our small studio crafts heirlooms for pet families around the world. Made by people. Made to last generations.
